Chip Lab Guide (Season 2)
Chip Lab in Season 2
By Season 2, you should have a complete legendary chip set (4 chips) for your primary squad and be working on ascension and Combat Boost. The Chip Lab itself does not gain new features in Season 2 — Levels 31-35 require Age of Oil, which is a post-Season 2 unlock. Your focus is on maximising what you already have.
For the full Chip Lab mechanics, see the Pre-Season 1 Chip Lab Guide.
Your Chip Lab should still be at Level 20. Levels 21-30 are not worth upgrading in Season 2 — the resources are better spent on furnace upgrades and other buildings. Levels 31-35 require Age of Oil research that is not available until after Season 2. Do not waste resources upgrading the Chip Lab during this season.
What Is Different in Season 2
Furnace Competes for Resources
The biggest change for chip progression is indirect — your furnace upgrade path competes for your attention:
- Titanium Alloy and Coal do not directly compete with chip materials, but your time and focus are split
- Chip farming should continue as a daily routine — do not skip it because you are focused on furnace upgrades
- The daily farming sources have not changed, and consistency matters as much as ever
Second Squad Chips Are More Important
Season 2's internal server combat means you may need multiple squad types ready:
- Garrison duty requires your primary squad's chip set — when garrisoning a city, those chips are committed
- Rally combat with a different squad may need its own Interference chip — if you run Murphy Exception for PvP and Tank for garrison, you need both chip sets functional
- The Murphy Exception shares Murphy's Tank gear but NOT his Tank chip — if your Tank Interference chip is on garrison Murphy, your Aircraft squad has no Interference chip unless you crafted a second one
Combat Boost Matters for Virus Resistance
Season 2 introduces virus-type enemies. Higher Combat Boost levels improve your overall combat stats, which translates to better performance against virus enemies:
Season 2 Chip Priorities
Ascension Focus
With all 4 legendary chips crafted, ascension is your primary chip progression path:
Keep chip star levels even. Four 3-star chips outperform one 5-star and three 2-stars. Push all chips to the same star level before advancing any single chip further. This principle has not changed since pre-season.
Second Squad Interference Chip
If you have not yet crafted a second Memory Ultra Fission for your secondary squad type, Season 2 is a good time to do it:
- Aircraft Interference chip if your primary is Tank (most common path)
- Tank Interference chip if your primary is Aircraft and you garrison with Tanks
- Cost is 800 Premium Materials — significant but necessary for multi-squad flexibility
- Only craft after your primary set is fully at 2-star or higher
Material Farming in Season 2
Daily Farming Checklist
Resource Split (Season 2)
Aim for 40% toward ascension (star upgrades), 35% toward Combat Boost, and 25% toward second squad Interference chip or reserve. With your primary set complete, the focus shifts toward maximising existing chips rather than crafting new ones. Combat Boost allocation increases because virus resistance matters more in Season 2.
Common Season 2 Chip Lab Mistakes
- Upgrading Chip Lab past Level 20 — still a waste. Levels 31-35 need Age of Oil which is not available yet
- Skipping daily farming because of furnace focus — chip materials and furnace materials do not compete directly. Keep farming chips daily
- Not crafting a second Interference chip — if you run two squad types (common in Season 2 with garrison duty), you need two Interference chips
- Uneven ascension — pushing one chip to 4-star while others sit at 2-star wastes materials. Keep them even
- Ignoring Combat Boost — feed green, blue, and replaced purple chips into Combat Boost. Every level helps against Season 2 virus enemies
- Not saving drone component chests for Wednesday — they still only count toward Alliance Duel points on VS Day
