Gear Guide (Season 2)
Gear in Season 2
By Season 2, your primary squad should have all 20 gold gear pieces crafted and many of them at 2-star or higher. The gear system itself has not changed, but Season 2 introduces a new tension: furnace upgrades compete with gear upgrades for your time and resources. Managing both is the key challenge.
For the full gear mechanics (crafting, levelling, materials), see the Pre-Season 1 Gear Guide. For Season 1 star promotion priorities, see the Season 1 Gear Guide.
Gear progression continues but is no longer your only upgrade priority. Your High-Heat Furnace provides temperature (survival) AND virus resistance (combat power). War Buildings at Furnace Level 30 provide up to +15% damage for your squad type. These compete with gear for your attention and resources. The right approach is to advance both — not to neglect one for the other.
What Changes from Season 1
War Building Gear Synergy
War Buildings unlock at Furnace Level 30 and provide up to +15% damage for a specific troop type:
- The +15% damage buff multiplies with your gear stats — better gear means the War Building buff is worth more in absolute terms
- Build the War Building for your primary squad type first — you want the damage bonus on your strongest, best-geared squad
- This creates a multiplicative loop — gear makes War Buildings more valuable, and War Buildings make gear more valuable
Furnace vs. Gear Resource Competition
Season 2 introduces Titanium Alloy as a new resource sink for furnace upgrades. While Titanium Alloy does not directly compete with gear materials, your time, speedups, and general resources are split:
- Furnace upgrades should take priority over gear star promotion — temperature survival matters more than marginal stat increases
- Once your furnace is at Level 25+, you can safely redirect more attention to gear
- Coal gathering takes march slots that could otherwise be farming gear materials — balance your marches
Mythic Progression Continues
Season 2 is when many players reach their first Mythic (red) gear piece:
- 5-star promotion on your carry's Gun is the target — this should be your first Mythic piece
- Mythic Blueprints continue to come from Ammo Bonanza events, Season Store, and special events
- Do not rush Mythic at the expense of furnace upgrades — a Mythic Gun means nothing if you are locked out at -20C
Star Promotion Priority (Season 2)
If you followed the Season 1 gear path, you should have your carry's Gun at 4-star and your main tank's Radar at 2-4 star. Season 2 priorities:
All Squad Types
Squad-Specific Notes
Tank Squads:
- Murphy's defensive gear (Radar, Armor) is especially valuable in Season 2 because he garrisons cities and the Alliance Furnace
- Kimberly's Gun at 5-star Mythic is the top target for damage output
- War Building (+15% Tank damage) multiplies all of this
Aircraft Squads:
- DVA's Gun at 5-star Mythic remains the single highest damage investment
- If running Murphy Exception, Murphy's gear transfers from your Tank squad — no additional crafting needed
- Carlie needs gear investment for the backup formation — prioritise her Radar and Armor if she does not have gold gear yet
Missile Squads:
- Tesla's Gun at 5-star Mythic is the priority
- Fiona's Gun star promotion directly increases Radiation DoT scaling
- Adam's Radar at 3-4 star improves front-line survivability for extended Rare Soil fights
Gear Levelling for Late Starters
If you still have gold gear pieces below Level 40, the priority remains:
- All pieces to Level 10 — unlock first bonus attribute
- Carry's Gun to Level 40 — biggest damage increase
- Main tank's Radar to Level 40 — keeps front line alive
- Main tank's Armor to Level 40 — physical defence
- Carry's Chip to Level 40 — crit multipliers
- Remaining pieces to Level 40
This has not changed from Season 1. If you are behind on levelling, catching up is more important than star promotion.
Ceramic Management in Season 2
Ceramic remains the bottleneck for star promotion:
Material Workshop should be upgraded to Level 20+ by now. Keep production queues running at all times.
Common Season 2 Gear Mistakes
- Neglecting furnace for gear — furnace provides temperature AND virus resistance AND unlocks War Buildings. It competes with gear, but furnace should win the priority battle until Level 25+
- Ignoring War Building synergy — the +15% damage buff from War Buildings multiplies with your gear stats. Rush Furnace 30 to unlock them
- Not gearing Carlie for the backup formation — Murphy Exception players forget they need a functional standard formation when Murphy is garrisoning
- Rushing Mythic without furnace stability — a Mythic Gun does nothing if you are locked out at -20C during Cold Waves
- Forgetting coal management affects march slots — gathering coal takes marches away from gear material farming. Balance your march allocation
- Still buying the same Season 1 shop items — check if Season 2 shops offer better ceramic or blueprint deals
- Not buying Honor Shop Legendary Blueprints — still the best value purchase in the game
