Alliance Train in Season 5

Season 5 introduces the Trade Train as a major map mechanic, but the regular Alliance Train still runs as a daily alliance event. These are two separate systems and it is important not to confuse them.

For the full Alliance Train mechanics, see the Alliance Train Guide.

Alliance Train vs Trade Train — They Are Different

The Alliance Train is the daily alliance event you have been running since pre-season. You board wagons, set guards, complete deliveries, and earn Alliance Gift rewards. The Trade Train is a Season 5 map mechanic where you load goods (Whiskey) onto trains that travel map routes and can be raided by other players. Both run simultaneously. Both are important. Do not skip one thinking it is the other.

What Is Different in Season 5

Two Trains, One Alliance

Your alliance now manages two train systems:

SystemWhat It Is
Alliance Train (daily event)Same as previous seasons. Board wagons, set guards, earn Alliance Gift rewards. Internal alliance activity
Trade Train (S5 map mechanic)NEW. Load Whiskey, deliver across map routes, risk being raided. Generates CrystalGold for Bank deposits. PvP-enabled

Stronger Guards Than Ever

By Season 5, your guard teams are the strongest they have ever been:

  • T11 troops with full Exclusive Weapon lineups
  • Four new Exclusive Weapons this season further strengthen guards
  • Murphy with Mitigation Master is still the best guard hero — nearly unbeatable in the 3v3 format
  • Caffeine buffs can be active during guard duty — brew before the train departs

Trade Train Coordination Overlaps

The Trade Train competes for your alliance's attention and troop commitments:

  • Members escorting Trade Train deliveries cannot simultaneously guard the Alliance Train
  • Schedule Alliance Train and Trade Train at different times to avoid conflicts
  • Prioritise whichever train your alliance needs more — Alliance Train for gifts, Trade Train for CrystalGold

Season 5 Alliance Train Optimisation

Guard Strategy with S5 Weapons

With the full Exclusive Weapon roster available:

  • All 3 guard teams should include weapon-equipped heroes — the power gap against non-weapon attackers is enormous
  • Murphy with Mitigation Master remains the premier guard hero
  • Fiona with her new weapon is an excellent guard — Radiation DoT punishes attackers who try to survive
  • Diversify troop types across guard teams — prevents type-matching all three

Wagon Selection (Season 5 Priorities)

Season 5 resource priorities reflect the CrystalGold economy:

  • Speedup wagons — always valuable for VS, building, and research
  • Gear material wagons — ceramic and blueprints for Mythic progression
  • Hero material wagons — Exclusive Weapon materials for the four new weapons this season
  • Resource wagons — standard resources remain useful for T11 troop training

Coffee Before Departure

Brew coffee from the Caffeine Institute before the Alliance Train departs:

  • Troop Defence or Troop HP coffee makes your guards harder to defeat
  • The VR bonus alone strengthens your guard heroes
  • This is a small edge but compounds over daily runs

The Trade Train (Season 5 Specific)

The Trade Train is the more strategically important system in Season 5. Starting Week 2:

How It Works

  1. Load goods (primarily Whiskey) onto the Trade Train
  2. The train travels along set map routes
  3. Other players can raid your delivery
  4. Successful delivery converts Whiskey to CrystalGold
  5. Deposit CrystalGold in Bank Strongholds for compound interest

Escort Coordination

  • Assign 2-3 escort squads per delivery
  • Tank squads are ideal escorts — Murphy's durability keeps the escort alive
  • Stagger escort positions along the route to cover the full journey
  • Brew March Speed coffee for rapid response to raiders

Raiding Strategy

  • Aircraft squads excel at quick raids — burst damage destroys escorts before they respond
  • Only raid with alliance coordination — solo raiders get counter-attacked
  • Convert stolen goods to CrystalGold immediately and deposit
  • High-risk, high-reward — failed raids expose your troops to counter-attack

Scheduling

  • Safest time: Sundays (Truce Day) — fewer hostile forces on the map since banks cannot be captured
  • Most profitable time: Any day you can ensure escort coverage
  • Avoid during VS Day 5-6 — troops are needed for VS activities, not trade escort
The Whiskey Pipeline

Trade Train Whiskey conversion is the primary fuel for your banking economy. Every successful delivery generates CrystalGold that compounds when deposited. Missing deliveries does not just lose Whiskey — it loses compound CrystalGold over the rest of the season. Run deliveries every available cycle. See the Bank Strongholds Guide for the compound math.

Common Season 5 Train Mistakes

  1. Confusing Alliance Train with Trade Train — they are separate systems. Run both
  2. Skipping Alliance Train because Trade Train is "more important" — Alliance Gift rewards still compound. Do not abandon daily habits
  3. Solo Trade Train deliveries — they get raided. Always coordinate escorts
  4. Not brewing coffee for guard duty — the VR bonus strengthens your guards for both trains
  5. Scheduling both trains at the same time — your members cannot escort both simultaneously
  6. Not using Murphy for Alliance Train guards — he is still the best guard hero with Mitigation Master
  7. Ignoring Trade Train after securing banks — Whiskey conversion feeds your deposits. Banks without deposits are useless
