Coin Farming Guide — The Real Bottleneck for T10 and T11 Troops
Why Coin Is the Bottleneck
Most guides talk about Valor Badges, troop tier prerequisites, and Tech Centre levels as the gates for T10 and T11 troops. They are gates — but they are not the actual bottleneck.
Coin is the bottleneck. You will hit a wall on coin long before any other constraint. This guide covers every coin source, daily farming routine, and how to plan coin income across major progression pushes.
By HQ 25, every major progression decision becomes "do I have enough coin?" HQ upgrades cost coin. Tech research costs coin. Troop training and promotion cost coin. Hospital healing costs coin. Players who do not actively farm coin from HQ 18 onward stall their progression for weeks at HQ 25-30.
Where Coin Actually Comes From
Coin sources are split into passive (per-hour) and active (per-action). Active sources dominate after HQ 18.
Passive Coin Sources
Passive coin alone is insufficient past HQ 22. Treat it as a baseline — your active farming layers on top.
Active Coin Sources
The Highest-Value Active Source: Coin Tiles
Coin Gathering Tiles on the world map produce more coin per hour than any other source.
- Send your strongest gathering marches — march capacity directly multiplies yield
- Run multiple gathering marches simultaneously — every march not running is wasted gathering capacity
- Use Gathering Speed buffs — alliance tech, season buffs, and survivor assignments stack
- Don't let marches sit at home — even partially-loaded gathering marches add up over a day
Daily Coin Routine
The five-minute daily habit that produces 10x what casual play does:
- Morning login: claim mailbox, daily rewards, alliance gifts (free coin)
- Send all marches to coin tiles — fill every gathering slot
- Run radar missions — daily limit, complete every day
- Run Rampage Boss daily attempts — minimum 5 minutes
- Spend stamina on zombie kills if coin tiles are scarce — backup plan when tiles run out
- Evening login: collect gathering marches, redirect them, claim event chests
Daily disciplined coin farming compounds across an account's life. A player who farms coin daily from HQ 18 onward arrives at HQ 28 with 200-400M coin in stockpile. A player who casually farms arrives at HQ 28 with 30-50M coin and stalls for weeks. The gap is not skill or spending — it is daily 5-minute habit.
Coin Budget Across Progression
How coin gets spent — and where it usually runs out.
HQ Upgrades (Major Coin Sink)
Total coin cost from HQ 25 to HQ 30: roughly 1 billion coin.
Tech Centre Research (Steady Coin Drain)
Each Tech Centre research tier costs coin. The path through the tree from level 20 to 30 totals hundreds of millions of coin alongside the resource and Valor Badge costs.
Special Forces / T10 Unlock
The Special Forces research tree gating T10 troops costs 300M+ coin to navigate to the four T10 unlock nodes. Players who arrive at this stage with no coin stockpile freeze for weeks.
Troop Training and Promotion
- T9 → T10 promotion: dramatically cheaper than training T10 from scratch. Promotion is the right path for most players — see the T10 Troops Guide
- T10 → T11 promotion: similar economics — promotion beats training
- Coin per troop is small individually but stacks — a full T10 army of 600K+ troops requires significant coin
Hospital Healing
Wounded troops cost coin to heal. During SvS and major events, hospital coin spend can exceed 100M coin per week.
Coin Strategy by Phase
Coin Saving Tactics
When coin is tight:
- Don't heal trivial troop losses immediately — let small wound counts accumulate before mass-healing
- Prioritise HQ-blocking research only — pause non-blocking research nodes
- Pause troop training during coin crunches — train when stockpile recovers
- Use Free Donation in Alliance Tech when you have nothing better to spend
- Skip Coin shop purchases — most "Coin Pack" Hot Deals are bad value
When to Spend Real Money on Coin
Almost never. Real-money coin packs are typically C-tier value (see Pack Tier List). Exceptions:
- You are stalled at HQ 28-30 specifically waiting on coin — a one-time pack can unblock progression
- A specific event window with coin shortage is preventing you from competing
- Hot Deal cycle offers coin at heavy discount alongside other items you want
In every other case, VIP packs, Battle Pass, and Growth Fund deliver more total value than coin packs.
Common Coin Mistakes
- Not setting up daily coin gathering at HQ 16-18 — falling behind starts here
- Sending gathering marches to food/iron tiles when coin is the bottleneck — opportunity cost
- Leaving gathering slots empty overnight — free coin lost every night
- Not running daily Rampage Boss / Wanted Boss for coin — the dailies stack
- Padding non-essential Tech Centre research — coin spent on optional nodes is coin not on the T10 path
- Training T10 from scratch instead of promoting T9 — wastes massive coin
- Buying generic Coin Hot Deals — usually poor value vs free farming
- Forgetting alliance tech bonuses — Coin Production tech compounds across every member
- Healing every troop loss immediately during SvS — batch heals are coin-efficient
- Spending coin reserves on cosmetic decorations — decorations matter, but only after T10 is unlocked
