Decorations Tier List & Upgrade Priority

Progression · 2026-04-19

Why Decorations Matter More Than You Think

Decoration bonuses are global and permanent. Unlike hero gear or chips — which only buff one hero — a decoration's stats apply to every single unit in your base, across every march, in every game mode. PvP, PvE, world-map, arena, events: the buffs are always on.

Ignoring decorations is the single most common power leak in Last War. A player with maxed S-tier decorations will consistently outperform a higher-HQ player who ignored them.

The Level 3 Rule (Don't Skip This)

The stats that matter — Damage Reduction and Skill Damage — only unlock at decoration Level 3. Levels 1 and 2 give basic HP, ATK, DEF bumps. Level 3 is where a decoration becomes meta-relevant. Breadth beats depth: get more S and A-tier decorations to Level 3 before pushing any of them higher.

The 2026 Meta: Stat Priority

Not all stats are equal. The current meta ranks them like this:

StatWhy It Ranks Here
1. Damage ReductionPercentage-based, scales with enemy power. Becomes stronger as opponents grow — flat defence does not
2. Skill DamageMost hero damage output comes from skills. Directly multiplies your best hits
3. March SizeMore troops per march = more raw power. Also boosts gathering and rallies
4. Crit DamageGood for crit-built squads, but conditional — only lands on crits
5. Flat HP/ATK/DEFBaseline. Never bad, but outclassed by percentage stats at high power levels

S-Tier: Damage Reduction

Always Level 3 these first. Damage Reduction is the single most valuable stat in the current meta and these decorations are your Level 3 priority above everything else.

DecorationPrimary StatNotes
Win in 2026Damage ReductionThe current gold standard — if you have it, it's first in the queue
Win in 2025Damage ReductionNew Year buffs that scale into late game
Rock The EndDamage ReductionMassive survival boost, top PvP priority
Torch RelayDamage ReductionSpecifically strong against high-crit enemies
Joyful BunnyDamage ReductionSeasonal event drop — grab it when available

A-Tier: Skill Damage

Level 3 these next. Skill Damage multiplies the burst damage windows your squad depends on.

B-Tier: Crit Damage

Only prioritise these if your squad is built around crits (e.g. certain Aircraft and Missile builds). Otherwise, keep them at Level 1 until your S and A-tier queue is clear.

God of JudgementCrit DamageThe strongest of the crit-focused decorations
Year of the DragonCrit DamageBig multipliers for crit-heavy squads

C-Tier: Basic Stat Boosts

These are filler. Keep them at Level 1 — the cost to push them higher outweighs the gains. Use them to fill slots while you work on S/A-tier.

D-Tier: Skip or Situational

Do not spend upgrade materials on these unless noted.

Upgrade Priority Order

Follow this queue — it matches the 2026 meta and avoids wasting materials.

  1. Get every S-tier decoration you own to Level 3 — unlocks Damage Reduction across the board
  2. Get every A-tier decoration you own to Level 3 — unlocks Skill Damage
  3. Push your top 2-3 S-tier pieces to Level 4+ — diminishing returns beyond this until you have deep material reserves
  4. Level 3 any B-tier crit pieces only if your squad is crit-built
  5. Leave C-tier at Level 1 unless you have surplus materials and empty slots
  6. Ignore D-tier (with the Eternal Pyramid construction-speed exception while you are levelling HQ)
Breadth > Depth (Seriously)

A common mistake is tunnelling one favourite decoration to Level 5 early. Don't. Five Level 3 S-tier decorations give you far more combat bonus than one Level 5 — because you unlock the meta stat on five pieces instead of one. Only push past Level 3 once your full S and A roster is at Level 3.

Where Decorations Come From

  • Events: Most seasonal decorations drop from limited-time events (New Year, Easter, Halloween, Christmas, etc.). If you see an S or A-tier in an event, prioritise the currency required
  • Decoration Gallery: Your in-base gallery shows what you own and upgrade progress
  • Duplicates & Universal Components: Decorations upgrade with duplicates of themselves, or with universal components earned from events and the shop
  • Bronze / Silver decorations: Exist but are dramatically weaker than Gold (UR). Do not waste materials upgrading them

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Maxing a C-tier decoration because it looks cool — it's still C-tier
  • Stopping at Level 2 on an S-tier decoration — you missed the Damage Reduction unlock
  • Over-investing in one decoration to Level 5 before levelling the rest to 3
  • Ignoring the Eternal Pyramid while still building up your HQ — the construction speed matters until you are done
  • Skipping seasonal events that drop S or A-tier decorations — some are difficult to obtain again
