Armament Institute Guide (Season 4)
A Building That Never Upgrades
The Armament Institute is a unique building introduced in Season 4. Unlike every other building in Last War, it cannot be upgraded. There are no construction levels, no builder time, no upgrade costs. It is functional from the moment you unlock it, and all of its value comes from the 4 research paths inside it.
This makes it easy to overlook. Do not make that mistake. The stat bonuses from completing Armament Institute research are significant, and they directly improve your T11 troop performance once you reach that milestone.
Armament Institute research is slow and resource-gated. The research paths take weeks to complete, and the new resources they require — Armament Materials and Armament Core — are not abundant early in the season. Players who start research on Day 1 will have a meaningful stat advantage over those who wait. There is no reason to delay.
The 4 Research Paths
The Armament Institute contains four sequential research paths, each focused on a different combat aspect. They must be completed in order — you cannot skip ahead.
Research Priority Order
Since the paths are sequential, you do not get to choose which to do first. However, within each path there are individual research nodes. Prioritise nodes that boost your primary squad type (Tank, Aircraft, or Missile) over generalist nodes when given the choice.
The practical order is simply: Helmet, then Body Armor, then Accessories, then Weapon. Push through each path as quickly as your resources allow. Do not linger on a completed path — move to the next one immediately.
New Resources
The Armament Institute introduces two resources that do not exist outside this building:
Farming Armament Materials
Armament Materials come from multiple sources, but the most reliable are:
- Zombie farming on the world map — consistent drops from Season 4 zombies. Farm between Blood Night windows for efficiency
- Season events — most Season 4 events include Armament Materials as rewards. Participate in every event
- Copper War milestones — city captures and copper accumulation milestones reward both Materials and Cores
- Lucky Cat rewards — Maneki-neko statues occasionally drop Armament Materials. Not reliable, but every bit helps
- Alliance activities — coordinated rallies against Doom Elites can yield Armament Core drops
Spend Armament Materials as soon as you have enough for the next research node. There is no benefit to stockpiling. Every day a research node sits uncompleted is a day without those stat bonuses. The only exception is if you are a few Materials short of a node and expect to earn them within hours — in that case, wait rather than spending on a less important node.
Interaction with T11 Troops
The Armament Institute's stat bonuses apply to all your troops, but they are most impactful on T11 troops unlocked during the Season 4 off-season. Here is why:
- T11 troops already have higher base stats than T10. Percentage-based bonuses from Armament research scale better on higher base stats
- The Weapon research path's ATK bonuses make T11 Assault Raiders noticeably more lethal
- The Helmet and Body Armor paths make T11 Armored Troopers even tankier
- If you are pushing for HQ 27 to unlock T11, completing Armament research beforehand means your T11 troops are stronger from the moment you train them
Interaction with Tactics Cards
Armament Institute bonuses stack additively with Tactics Card bonuses. They occupy separate systems and do not interfere with each other. A fully researched Armament Institute combined with an optimised Tactics Card loadout provides the maximum possible stat ceiling in Season 4.
Common Mistakes
- Forgetting the Armament Institute exists — because it does not upgrade like a normal building, players overlook it entirely. Check it daily
- Trying to upgrade the building itself — it cannot be upgraded. All progression comes from the research paths inside it
- Hoarding Armament Materials — spend them on research as soon as you can. There is no strategic benefit to stockpiling
- Ignoring Armament Core sources — Cores are rarer and gate the advanced nodes. Participate in Doom Elite rallies and Copper War to earn them
- Skipping early research paths — you must complete Helmet before Body Armor, Body Armor before Accessories, and so on. There are no shortcuts
- Expecting instant results — Armament research is a slow burn. The bonuses are incremental. Start early and let them compound over the season
- Not prioritising your squad type — when choosing between research nodes within a path, pick the ones that benefit your primary squad first
