What Changes for F2P in Season 3

Season 3 (Golden Kingdom) moves the war into an ancient-Egypt desert, and it swaps Season 2's cold for a new gate: Curse Resistance. Just as virus resistance defined Season 1, Curse Resistance decides whether your hits land or fizzle against the season's monsters. For a free-to-play player that's actually encouraging — it's earned by grinding, not spending, so a patient F2P account stays PvE-relevant all season.

The season's identity is Spice Wars (the PvP), Desert Protectors (disposable seasonal troops), and a steady Curse Resistance climb. None of the three requires a wallet to participate in.

Level Your Sacred Water Fountains Evenly

Curse Resistance comes from the Curse Research Lab, fed by Sacred Water — and the cardinal F2P rule is to upgrade your Sacred Water Fountains evenly, never maxing one before the others. Output gains are flat per level while costs climb, so spreading your upgrades keeps your resistance rising fastest for the least resource. Fall behind on Curse Resistance and your damage collapses against the season's Pharaoh-zombies and elites — this is the one system F2P cannot skip.

Desert Protectors — Your Free Force Multiplier

Desert Protectors are disposable seasonal troops you raise in the Protector's Field. Most don't return from a deployment, so spend them deliberately: save them for World Bosses, where they let an F2P account punch into higher reward tiers it couldn't reach on raw power alone. Don't fritter them on trivial fights.

Spice Wars on a Budget

Spice is the season's victory currency, produced over time by the cities and structures your alliance holds, and the PvP climaxes in a faction duel in the final week. You don't need top-tier power to matter here:

Hit the secondary buildings first — each one you take denies the enemy a chunk of their Spice income. Objectives win the war, not raw might.
Play it as a coordinated alliance, focusing steals and captures together rather than soloing.
Hold what you take — Spice accrues over time, so defending a captured node is worth more than chasing the next one.

Timing Tricks That Cost Nothing

Season transitions reward a little planning, and these are pure free value:

Don't kill the season's first Doom Walker until the season has actually started — doing so maximises your Mithril from it.
Send resource trucks out just before the Season 3 countdown ends so they auto-return safely after launch — free resources with no risk of loss.
Rally a single-hero squad at digging strongholds to still claim first-capture rewards even when you can't make the scheduled alliance capture.

What to Skip

Don't try to max every seasonal building at once. Prioritise the Curse Research Lab and Sacred Water Fountains; the rest can wait.
Don't chase the Spice leaderboard on personal power — contribute objectives instead.
The season's cheap battle pass (which doubles daily-task rewards) is the only purchase most F2P players would consider; everything above it is optional.

Common F2P Mistakes

Maxing one Sacred Water Fountain first — even levelling is far more efficient.

Spreading upgrades across every seasonal building and maxing none of the ones that gate your damage.
